For most of us, trying to find the best source for cheap used cars can be tricky, especially if you don't have a lot of experience. Like any wise shopper, when looking for that great deal in a used vehicle purchase, the key is in understanding where dealers make the majority of their profits. To maximize your experience and minimize the amount of time spent driving from place to place it is wise to have a good game plan. The process of researching and buying a used vehicle should be approached in an intelligent manner if you want to get a great deal on your next purchase. Be diligent in researching previous owners and previous damage but don’t let any of those findings frighten you away because armed with the right tools you will be able to wade through the information and make an informed decision.
One of the first steps when looking for a used car is to know what you are interested in before setting out on the long journey all over town. Do your homework and learn all you can about your vehicle(s) of choice and make sure they suit your needs as well as your desires. The wise person will see past the flashy exterior and loads of extras and recognize the fact that these items may not actually give you an increased value for the vehicle you choose. The key here is to find the proper balance between what you need and what you want as well as looking at reliability and the reputation of the manufacturer.
Although not always possible for the majority of shoppers, it makes a great deal of difference in what you can get and how quickly you can get it if you can afford to pay cash. This will also help instill a level of confidence in your buying ability and in many cases can make the difference in a wise decision and a hasty one with a bad outcome.
It has been said that the best method for getting the best-priced car in the Cincinnati Used Car Market is to know the market. When you go out to buy new car, the majority of the time the only real factors that the difference in what is paid is the make, model, and features of the vehicle, each which usually have a set price in most areas of the country. When buying a used car not only are these factors considered but also the history of the vehicle including previous owners, how many miles, the age of the vehicle and much more.
After spending many long hours looking for that one perfect vehicle and then deciding that you've found one with a pretty good price and you have convinced yourself that it's time to buy it, remember you can negotiate a better price than what’s listed. If you have the right negotiation skills, it is possible to save hundreds of dollars. Start by first inspecting the car, and then ask as many questions as necessary to feel comfortable that you know as much as possible about the vehicle. Take the vehicle for a test drive and then when you think you are ready you can start the negotiation.
Following just a few of these basic principles can make the difference in getting a great deal on your next ride and being taken for a ride!

The Art of Selling a Used Car
Unlike trying to sell so many other products, trying to sell a used vehicle can be very tricky. With so many things that a person needs to be aware of and with so many dealerships offering warranties and guaranties of quality, selling a used car on your own can be a major feat. So what are some of the best techniques for selling a used car on your own? When we get right down to it, there are really only about four main areas to consider when deciding to put a used car up for sale privately.
For most people when looking at so many cars available from both private owners and dealers the two most important factors that are considered first are the reliability and safety of the vehicle. Truth be known, almost anyone who has ever bought a used car has stories of used cars that they bought where shortly after the purchase they began to experience mechanical failures. If you are smart, before putting any vehicle up for sale it would be a good idea to have the vehicle serviced. At the very least you should have it checked independently for any obvious faults, particularly those that might be considered issues with the safety of the vehicle.
Next and most obvious you need to make sure that the vehicle being sold is roadworthy. In most areas around the country and in the Used Cars Cincinnati area where I am from, this is usually determined by the fact that it has a valid Ministry of Transport (MOT) certificate. If this is not available, it is the responsibility of the seller to make this known before selling the vehicle. If this is not disclosed, it is possible to be prosecuted if it can be proven that a vehicle was sold with prior knowledge of a dangerous condition.
The third aspect that is most often considered is the sale price of the vehicle. This is where your own personal selling technique has to be refined because no matter how good your techniques may be, they will never be successful if the price you are asking is way out of line with the fair market value for the vehicle. In the Cincinnati Used Cars market especially where there is a lot of competition for selling used cars, it is vitally important that you gauge the market and price your vehicle at the right margin level to make yourself competitive. This is why it is important to do some research in order to determine what might be a realistic price to attract potential purchasers?
The final factor to consider is that you need to put yourself in the shoes of the buyer where you would not want to be told false or misleading information so you should not make misleading statements about the vehicle being sold or misrepresent to the buyer in any way. Once you have reviewed this information and taken action on what has been outlined above the next step is to discuss the best methods for selling the car.
There are so many ways to sell your car and like most of us your going to be anxious for a quick sale, but the best way to guarantee yourself the most profit is simply through your own efforts rather than taking short cuts and giving up some of your profit by taking it to a dealer or part-exchanging it for another. Experience has shown that one of the most common and generally successful methods for selling your car is to advertise in your local paper. As long as you put the effort into creating an ad that stands out when advertising with so many others, it is possible to get it sold in a matter of a few days. If you consider peoples buying habits and place your ad on a Friday, this allows people the weekend to look at the car and should increase the odds of having a higher number of interested parties giving a higher prospect of getting the price that you want.
As another option many people are turning to auctions to sell their used cars. Auctions can be using a local lot, or could be through the Internet using services such as EBay. Using an auction can be attractive because people are under the illusion that this will ensure them of getting the maximum possible price.
So no matter what method you choose or what techniques you decide to use, the bottom line is you need to do your homework, make sure your vehicle is in the best possible condition and that however you decide to move forward there are no guarantees.

Taking The Stress Out Of The Used Car Buying Process
For most people the thought of buying a used car can be a very stressful time due to all of the potential problems and issues that they may face with buying something that has already been used. What many people do not realize is that even new cars today can have there share of issues and there are no guarantees either way. But with the rising cost of new cars and the economy being what it is today, making the decision to buy a used car can be a smart decision. If you do your home work and check with all of the resources that are available online these days, you can get a car that's almost as good as a comparable new one without dealing with the depreciation that comes with the purchase of any new car. Many people are finding that with cars that are only 1 or 2 years old are being traded in and are anywhere from 20 to 30 percent cheaper than brand-new cars.
But for most people they are looking for all the right reasons for why they should buy a used car. Simple things such as saving money on insurance or finding one that may still be under warranty can be great reasons to buy used. A large number of dealers In the Used Cars Cincinnati area are now selling certified used cars that include warranties For those who are willing to spend the time and effort to search out the great deals bigger bargains are possible. The fact that more information than ever before is now available on most used cars such as Car Fax reports makes it easy for used car buyers to spot potential bad purchases.
When most people begin the car-buying process they already know the type of car they want. But regardless of whether you are convinced of what you want or not, it's always a good idea to take a step back and ask yourself one simple question to test your decision, “Will I be able to afford this car with the monthly budget I have in mind?” Depending on how you answer this question and because you won't know what is available in your area until you start looking, you may have to expand the scope of your horizons. One common practice is to start by building a target list of at least three different cars that you may be interested in. Consider vehicles in the same class but maybe from different manufacturers.
As I mentioned before, use every available resource available online such as Edmunds.com, AutoCheck and CarFAX. Every one of these reports can assist in revealing critical information about the used car such as if it has a salvage title or if the odometer has been rolled back. For many people, this is can be a deciding factor as to whether they want a Certified Used Car which is now being offered by many reputable dealers in the Cincinnati Used Car market area. A crucial part of the used car buying process is to inspect the vehicle to determine its condition. Buying a Certified Used Car from a reputable dealer that has passed a thorough inspection and is backed by a manufacturer's warranty will give you peace of mind that you are getting the best deal with the least possible number of issues. But even though buying a certified used car can eliminate a lot of the guesswork about a vehicle's mechanical condition, you will end up paying for this service.
Once you have made your decision on what to buy and from whom, in the end it is all about getting what you feel comfortable with because like most of us this will be an investment that you will live with for many years to come and you need to have the peace of mind in knowing that you made the right decision based on all of the facts that you could possibly get your hands on.

What's Up With Ford?
We are all familiar with the dramatic happenings in the automotive industry over the past few years that have left no manufacturer untouched in terms of the effect it has had on their bottom line and the loyalty seen by it’s customers. Through all that has occurred only a hand full have managed to come out of it relatively unscathed and Ford Motor Company seems to be emerging as the sole American automaker who is in a great position financially which has helped them to survive the steepest sales downturn in decades without a government bailout. All of this has helped the company improve its reputation and win new customers.
Ford has reported consecutive quarters recently with steadily rising profits, which has attributed to higher sales that has produced its largest pretax operating profit in six years. According to statistics available, Ford has managed to outsell General Motors in the first quarter of 2010 which is something that had not happened in more than 50 years.
Many local dealerships are seeing a steady rise in their overall sales numbers of new Ford products. Cincinnati Ford Dealers are no exception to the rule with some claiming double digit increases as we progress through the summer.
A great deal of Ford’s recent success can be attributed to management changes that have taken place over the past several years. With an influx of fresh ideas and strong management skills focused on delivering what the public is looking for in terms of price, quality and style while not giving up the luxury that has been a spotlight with Ford and Lincoln Mercury over the years has helped Ford to position themselves to become the leader in American made automobiles.
Ford has shed itself of many of the high end luxury divisions such as Land Rover and Jaguar in an effort to focus on the more profitable areas of the company. Most recently Ford has announced the sale of its Volvo division to a Chinese company along with the pending shutdown of its Mercury division which it says will cease by year end.
Recent deliveries such as the 2010 Ford Mustang and the all new 2011 Ford Explorer has the industry talking about the fuel efficiencies and great deal of amenities that each brings to the table. With everyone concerned about the cost of gas and looking more heavily at gas consumption and wanting more fuel efficiencies, Ford has seen an dramatic increase in the hybrid sales with as much as a 67 percent increase this year alone , despite an overall industry slump of 11 percent.
Ford reports that it has sold more than 31,000 of its hybrid cars through the end of last year. A great deal of their success can be attributed to introductions of vehicles such as the Ford Fusion Hybrid and Mercury Milan Hybrid. Each vehicle gets up to 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
While Ford is now working to reinvent its vehicle fleet in an effort to focus on future fuels, it is doing so to try and meet the demands of the emerging economies which the company sees as an area where the company can play a pivotal role. Realizing that the trend towards continued population growth in western worlds is continuing, transportation will become even more increasingly important. When looking at cities in countries such as China, India and Indonesia, Ford says the current infrastructures of each will not be able to support the needs of the middle class.

All New 2011 Ford Mustang Sets New Records
In a world where all we hear is “More Miles Per Gallon”, everyone is scrambling to beat the next guy while trying to maintain customer satisfaction, style and performance. Each year brings a whole new generation of models and this year is no exception. The all new 2011 Ford Mustang V6 while once delivering a fuel economy savings at 30mpg on the highway has now proven it has what it take by delivering an impressive average of 48.5 mpg with an average speed of 43.9 mph from testing done at the Bristol testing grounds.
Equipped with Ford’s new V-6 engine in combination with their advanced six-speed transmission, the Mustang is poised to be a key element in Fords’ plan to deliver both fuel economy and performance throughout the Ford and Lincoln Mercury ranks. Ford has made the commitment to becoming a leader in fuel economy within every segment that it has competition. The introduction of this new technology opens the doors for this to become the foundation on which Ford will build its future including other Ford fuel economy leaders like the Ford Fiesta, Fusion Hybrid and new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, America’s most fuel efficient luxury sedan.
So now that Ford has succeeded in delivering the best in looks, style and performance, the sales figures going into 2011 are beginning to tell the story of Ford’s future. Cincinnati Ford Dealers think it may seem too early to be thinking about what 2011 will bring with so much focus & intensity, but if the story behind what the Ford Mustang is now telling is any indication, it’s telling Ford that they need to keep the momentum going and stay ahead of the curve and the rest of the competition. Always forward thinking and looking at what the future will bring, the engineers at Ford are already looking at changes for the 2011 Mustang in hopes of ramping up even more to set new records in the sales. Analyst have already seen that in the first month when orders were being taken, Ford has seen more than 11,000 orders being processed which is almost three times as many orders as the last years model had at its launch. What’s even more impressive is that the what so many people have found as their reasons for buying the Ford Mustang over the years is what’s keeping the brand strong Sales figures today show that more than 50% of the orders processed are for the new V6 Model 2011 Mustang.
The development of the technology behind the new 2011 Mustang is a joint venture between the Ford Engineering team and the Ohio University Advanced Automotive Labs. The technology behind the engine for this new Mustang is made up of a lightweight, all-aluminum 3.7-liter dual-overhead-cam (DOHC) V-6 engine using advanced engineering to deliver its combination of power and economy.
So for those who were willing to stay with it and see it through and were wondering whether or not the Mustang had it in it still, I believe the facts are speaking for themselves and it is about to pay off big time for Ford.

The 10 Steps of a Body Shop Repair
Like with anything in life that requires a great deal of effort there will almost always be a process that one must follow in order to insure things are done completely and accurately. Body shop repair is no exception. From the initial accident to the insurance claim and estimates through the final repair and completion there are an enormous number of items that need to be addressed. Here is a quick overview, from the body shop of Northgate Ford, of the steps which may make your life easier when the time comes to get your vehicle repaired:
Step 1. Getting an Estimate
In most larger body shops that are better equipped to handle repairs better, in order to provide the most accurate estimate possible, the collision estimator will enter all the information about the repair into a computerized estimating system. A report is then generated outlining the work that will need to be done along with the costs involved.
Step 2. Getting Insurance Approval
Once an estimate has been obtained from a reputable collision repair shop, a representative from the insurance company may want to inspect the vehicle and prepare their own estimate for comparisons. Before the repair process can begin, in most cases the body shop must work with the insurance company to make sure the figures on the body shop estimate is in line with the figure from the insurance company as well as with the repair procedures needed to fix any damage. Because of this step, it is not uncommon for an insurance company to evaluate as a total loss so no repairs will be needed.
Step 3. Disassembly
Occasionally there may be the need for extra charges due to additional damage that is found after a vehicle has been disassembled for repair. When this happens, photos will be taken of the damage and the owner and possibly the insurance company will be contacted to get approval for any additional repairs.
Step 4. Ordering Parts
Before any work begins and in many cases before you are asked to bring your car in for repair, all parts will be ordered for your vehicle's repair to make sure they are available when the work begins. This insures the repairs are done quickly and efficiently with the least amount of inconvenience to the customer. Occasionally, there may be the need to place a special order for parts which can then add time to the repair process.
Step 5. Frame Repair
Most larger collision repair shops are equipped with sophisticated repair systems that enable them to carefully and accurately measure, analyze, and align the frame of your vehicle to restore it to its original factory specifications.
Step 6. Body Repair
Depending on the nature of the damage to the vehicle, there may be the need to perform some major body repair. The body repair process involves replacing any damaged exterior parts as well as any necessary metal finishing.
Step 7. Paint
After all of the repairs have been completed and parts replaced, the next step is to repaint the repaired areas. Generally a computerized paint-mixing system will be used in order to match your vehicle's paint color perfectly. To ensure the best adhesion possible, the areas to be painted are sanded down then are masked and primed for refinishing.
Step 8. Reassembly
After all necessary repairs are completed and the vehicle has been repainted, the next step is to reassemble any parts that were removed and/or repaired. A check is then made to verify that your car is structurally sound and ready for delivery.
Step 9. Inspection
When everything has been put back together and the technician is satisfied that the work is complete, a test-drive of your vehicle is completed in order to perform a quality control system check to make sure everything functions correctly and the repairs have been completed successfully.
Step 10. Completion
When your car is ready for pick up, the repair service manager will meet with you to review your invoice and answer any questions. The goal should be to make sure you're 100 percent satisfied with the work.

According to the management for Northgate Ford, the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid has gone above and beyond to offer everything that a customer could possibly look for in a midsize luxury sedan. With its unsurpassed fuel economy, ,the engineers at Lincoln Mercury worked extra hard to ensure the MKZ Hybrid’s electric motor and engine complement each other.
With a reputation as a world class leader in electrified technology, the Ford Motor Company with its introduction of the 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid uses the company’s second-generation hybrid engines. This system combines the best attributes of the gasoline engine and electric battery-driven motors to deliver optimal performance and fuel economy.
When you look under the hood you find that the Industry-leading fuel economy comes without the need to sacrifice power. The mix of the gasoline engine and electric motor provide a great deal more horsepower than one would expect.
